When most people think of puffer fish many think of the porcupine puffer which is
the most commonly sold saltwater pufferThe saltwater puffers can be found in each of the oceans. Saltwater puffers
can grow to be as big as three feet long.

There is a very small number of puffers that are truly freshwater species. The freshwater species can be as small
as 22 mm like the Dwarf puffer or as large as the Mbu Puffer which can be as large as 26 inches. Freshwater puffers range
from the Amazon to streams in Southeast Asia.

There many species of brackish water fish, brackish water is a mix between freshwater and saltwater.
Most brackish puffers live in estuaries. Many of the brackish puffers start out in freshwater and as they grow older move
into saltier waters.
